More Detail:

Like a lingering fragrance, I wish to create a menu that conveys messages through subtle reflections of light during the night, avoiding the mundane.

Initially, I contemplated several different presentation methods. Concepts such as exploring a half-size poster that could be unfolded or folded for storage, or incorporating expandable maps into a book were considered. After refining the concepts, I opted for black paper that could diminish its presence. Apart from the cover, I intertwined modern and elegant fonts in the wine list design to genuinely reflect the ambiance and elegance of the bar.

For this season's "Fragrance," the visual representation of scents at different altitudes, I first indicated altitude concepts with classical-style maps, followed by illustrating the stories represented by each altitude scent in a retro poster style. By combining visuals with the actual scent of cocktails, I hope to immerse customers in every scenario "Fragrance" seeks to convey.

For this production, I used Colors Matt black thick paper from the German paper mill Gmund. This black paper is also used for packaging by Leica cameras. I hope customers can experience the best texture when they hold it in their hands.

In contrast to printing black on white paper, this time the printing technique involved silver ink on black paper, cleverly utilizing light from various angles in the bar to apply silver in a subtle yet sophisticated manner.

For binding, I personally opted for silver thread and used a thread-sewn binding method with exposed spines. This occasionally draws attention to the silver threads interspersed in the black paper, adding some delightful surprises under the dim lights of the bar. Even instances where the lighting may not be sufficient, prompting customers to hold the menu with both hands and read by the light, is an interesting scene we hoped to see in the design.
